Diving flashlights are essential equipment for underwater activities. In deep-sea environments, light quickly fades, and regular torches are not only difficult to withstand water pressure, but also unable to meet the special optical requirements underwater. Professional diving lights are designed with superior waterproof performance and strong beam penetration, providing clear visibility in low-light conditions. Features like the light source, operation method, battery management system and pressure resistance are all carefully crafted to meet underwater demands.

XTAR diving flashlights bring these design principles into practice, backed by advanced technology, ensuring users can enjoy reliable and high-quality lighting even beneath the surface.

LEDs

To achieve the best lighting underwater, our diving flashlights use high-quality LEDs from CREE, OSRAM and LUMINUS. They offer high energy density and excellent luminous efficiency, providing a steady output of bright light for extended periods.

Additionally, their high CRI of 90+ reduces visual fatigue, while making the underwater plants and animals more realistic and vivid. This feature is especially noticeable in the D30 underwater photography flashlights, helping users capture clearer and more natural images.

Over 50,000 hours long lifespan.

Magnetic Switch

Magnetic Side-Slide Switch

In 2010, we launched the innovative magnetic side-slide switch flashlight: D01. It was the first diving flashlight on the market that supported one-handed operation, earning a patent for its technology. This innovation not only made underwater operation more convenient, but also allowed users to easily adjust the brightness output.

We continued this design in the DS1 1000 spearfishing flashlight, enabling users to quickly adjust the brightness between 20lm and 1000lm based on different lighting needs.

Magnetic Rotary Switch

Just gently rotate with two fingers to switch the lighting mode. The D08, equipped with a tail-mounted magnetic rotary switch, won the Red Dot Award in 2018 thanks to this unique design.

This design was also used in the D30 4000 multi-color underwater photography light. The head features a traditional button switch for adjusting brightness levels, while the tail has a magnetic rotary switch to change the light color. The independent dual switches allow users to quickly find the desired mode, eliminating confusion caused by consolidating all functions into a single switch.

Tail Design

Bidirectional Communication Structure

In flashlights with multiple light modes, it’s common to use head-tail multiple switches. However, to ensure the smooth operation of these switches, centralized control and signal transmission are necessary. If the signal is one-way, users won’t be able to confirm whether the flashlight is operating as intended. This will affect the user experience and even create potential safety risks.

The D30 4000 diving flashlight solves this problem through bidirectional communication structure. The tail microcontroller collects information from the magnetic rotary switch and transmits it to the head microcontroller, enabling various light effects. This patented design not only improves the accuracy of information transmission, but also allows users to grasp the operating status in real time, thereby enhancing safety.

Quick Installation Design

After inserting the battery, the tail cap and barrel of each XTAR diving flashlight can be quickly aligned and tightened through threading. This saves assembly time while also ensuring a strong seal to prevent water from seeping into the barrel.

Battery Management and Circuit Design

Battery Management System

Using incompatible batteries can lead to issues like excessive current or voltage fluctuations, which may cause overheating in circuit components and LEDs, affecting the flashlight performance. Our diving flashlights are equipped with an intelligent battery management system that automatically detects battery type and adjusts brightness based on battery characteristics. This not only improves battery efficiency, but also ensures the stable performance of the flashlight underwater.

Compatible with Different Numbers of Batteries in Series

Most flashlights on the market are limited to a fixed number of batteries. To achieve longer runtime, users often have to buy multiple flashlights with different battery setups. However, our patented technology allows the D26 2500(long type) diving light to break through this limitation. It supports different numbers of batteries in series and maintain constant current output of the LEDs, ensuring consistent brightness. Users can flexibly choose the number of batteries according to their needs, offering great convenience and practicality.

Constant Current Drive Circuit

The efficient constant current drive circuit ensures stable light output, providing consistent brightness while extending the lifespan of the LEDs. Taking our latest DH1 1600 spearfishing light as an example, its input-output conversion efficiency of 92% and a luminous efficiency of 120 lm/W. This means the flashlight precisely controls the current output, making better use of the battery, and optimizing the LED’s performance to prevent overheating and excessive loss.

Safety & Protection

Intelligent Temperature Control

Our flashlights have a built-in intelligent temperature control chip that monitors temperature in real time. When it exceeds 55°C, the output power of the flashlight will be slowly reduced(brightness decreases) to prevent overheating. This advanced technology effectively extends the flashlight lifespan and improves safety during use.

Reverse Polarity Protection

Flashlights without battery protection can have their circuits damaged if the battery is installed incorrectly. But with our diving flashlight, there’s no need to worry. Even if the battery is reversed, the circuit won’t be damaged. The circuit will only function properly once the battery is correctly installed. Besides, the flashlight features over-discharge protection. If the battery is left inside for a long time after use, the flashlight will automatically disconnect the circuit to prevent excessive discharge.

Indicator Light and Lock Function

Our latest DH1 1600 flashlight features an indicator light  to provide a clear and accurate countdown within 10 minutes, so users don’t have to guess the remaining battery life. It also includes a mechanical lock function to effectively prevent prevent accidental power-on.

Verified Depth Rating

To meet different usage needs, our diving flashlights are designed with two depth ratings of 50 meters and 100 meters. Each model undergoes strict laboratory pressure testing to simulate underwater conditions, ensuring reliable performance at the specified depths.

Gold-Plated Spring

Divers often use flashlights in high pressure or harsh water currents conditions, where impacts or vibrations can cause poor battery contact. To address this, we’ve designed the battery contact ports with gold-plated springs. These springs offer excellent shock resistance, preventing the flashlight from shutting off due to strong vibrations. It also has good compatibility with flat-top batteries.

Wear-Resistant O-Ring

We use high-quality rubber O-rings to enhance the flashlight’s sealing ability, preventing water from seeping into the flashlight. This design also reduces wear from contact with other objects, extending the flashlight lifespan. It is particularly important in diving environments, as it can withstand high water pressure and potential impacts.

Corrosion-Resistant Casing

Seawater contains high levels of salt, which can cause ordinary materials to rust or corrode over time. This can lead to moisture damage to internal components and affect the flashlight’s lighting performance. To address this, our diving flashlights feature a Type III Hard Anodized Aluminum Alloy Casing, offering excellent corrosion and wear resistance.

More importantly, this material can withstand high underwater pressure. Whether navigating through rocks or operating in strong water currents, it effectively prevents damage from impacts or friction.

Quality Certification

Each of our diving flashlights undergoes multiple strict tests in the lab before leaving the factory, and they are certified with international standards such as CE, FCC and RoHS. They not only meet first-class standards in quality and performance, but also meet environmental protection requirements, minimizing the impact on the ecosystem during use and disposal.

Technology Leads the Future

We believe that a flashlight is more than just a lighting tool — it’s a trusted companion for divers. Through constant optimization of every detail, we aim for every XTAR diving flashlight user to feel our commitment to quality, reliability and environmental responsibility.

As diving technology advances and underwater activities grow, we will continue to enhance and innovate our flashlight technology. Whether for scuba diving, underwater photography, recreational diving or others, XTAR will provide you with a reliable lighting solution at all times.
