1. Adapter Compatibility

Our chargers are designed to be compatible with various brand adapters, including PD adapters, QC3.0 adapters, and are backward compatible with 5V 2A adapters, ensuring stable use with a wide range of adapters available in the market.

We test not only compatibility with XTAR’s own adapters but also with adapters from brands like iPhone, Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, and OnePlus. Our chargers are required to function normally without issues like screen flickering or false charging.

2. Battery Identification and Preprocessing

Automatic Battery Type Recognition:

Our chargers can intelligently identify various types of batteries, including lithium-ion and NiMH batteries. This feature allows the charger to automatically select the optimal charging solution for different battery types, improving charging efficiency and preventing battery damage from misuse.

Reverse Polarity Protection:

To ensure safe charging, our chargers have reverse polarity protection. If a battery is accidentally inserted the wrong way, the charger will automatically detect it and stop charging, preventing damage to the battery and charger.

0V Activation Function:

For over-discharged batteries, XTAR chargers have an activation function that effectively restores the battery’s activity, allowing it to charge normally and continue to be used, thereby extending the battery’s lifespan.

3. Charging Current Matching

Auto-Match Charging Current:

In 2016, we developed a charger that automatically selects the most suitable charging current level according to the battery health. This feature can not only optimize charging efficiency, but also effectively protect the battery and extend its service life. At the same time, it also greatly improves the convenience of use. Even if you don’t know electronic knowledge, you can charge with confidence.

Charging Output Ripple Limitation:

To ensure the stability of the charging process, our chargers use charging output ripple limitation technology. This technology reduces current fluctuations, enhancing battery compatibility during charging and preventing issues caused by unstable currents.

Dynamic Power Management:

When using a regular 5V adapter, the charging current is adaptively reduced to ensure normal charging. When different numbers of batteries are inserted, the charging current for each slot automatically adjusts.

4. Charging Process and Control

Three-Stage Charging Technology:

In 2009, based on the characteristics of lithium-ion batteries, we successfully developed the industry’s first charger using a three-stage charging management system, the representative product: WP6. Compared with traditional charging methods, we solve the problems of battery overheating and insufficient charging, and significantly improve the safety and reliability of charging.

This “TC-CC-CV” technology combines trickle charging, constant current charging, and constant voltage charging modes to provide the optimal charging environment for lithium-ion batteries. During the trickle charging stage, the charger starts with a low current to avoid shocking the battery; during the constant current charging stage, the charger provides a stable current for efficient charging; and during the constant voltage charging stage, the charger reduces the charging current to ensure the battery is fully charged without overcharging.

We set standards for the critical voltage in the three-stage charging process to prevent overcharging.

Smart Full-Charge Detection:

XTAR chargers use unique CVSA technology for intelligent full-charge detection when charging NiMH batteries. With five full-charge detection methods, our chargers ensure a higher detection accuracy, improved charging efficiency, prevention of overcharging, and reduced charging temperature for NiMH batteries. This way brings a safer charging and extends the battery lifespan.

Full-charge detection accuracy is as high as 99%.

LCD Screen:

In 2016, we pioneered the use of high-definition LCD screens in lithium battery chargers, achieving the display of charging current and voltage to two decimal places, giving the charger the accuracy of a measuring instrument. Representative product: VP1.

This innovation has triggered peer imitation, reshaping the market structure of lithium battery chargers, and pushing it from the “feature phone” era to the “smart phone” era.

Monitoring Battery Capacity:

In 2017, we developed a charger that can detect battery capacity. Fully discharge a healthy battery, and then charge it in a charger that can display the charged capacity. After it is fully charged, the capacity displayed on the charger is the actual capacity of the battery.

This move not only improves the integrity of the battery industry and reduces the phenomenon of false labeling, but also provides users with more reliable charging products. Representative product: VC2.

Automatic Stop Upon Fully Charge:

Once the battery is fully charged, XTAR chargers automatically stop charging, preventing damage caused by overcharging. This feature not only extends battery life but also provides users with a safer charging experience.

5. Additional Features

Battery Capacity Test:

To help users perform more accurate battery capacity detection, we have developed an advanced capacity testing function. With this function, you can quickly understand the actual capacity of the battery, determine whether the newly purchased battery is falsely labeled, and conveniently select batteries when DIY power supply, reusing old batteries, and using multiple batteries at the same device.

Accuracy is as high as 95%.

Storage Function:

Many battery users do not know that there are also requirements for voltage when storing batteries. They are used to storing them in fully charged status. For batteries that will not be used for a long time, this function can intelligently adjust its voltage to the most suitable value to help extend the battery life.

Charge/Discharge Balancing Technology:

For chargers with output functions, it can intelligently balance the voltage during the charge/discharge process for batteries with different voltages, preventing overcharging or over-discharging of individual cells, making the batteries more durable.

These tests include compatibility testing, reliability testing, functional testing, aging testing, and burn-in testing, ensuring that each product meets industry-leading high standards.

Safety:

These safety measures play a crucial role in preventing charging accidents caused by voltage fluctuations or current overloads.

Temperature Control Technology:

XTAR chargers monitor the temperature of internal electronic components in real-time during the charging process and keep the temperature below 60 degrees Celsius, a standard that far exceeds competitors in the market.
